There are so many things we love about CA; however, this is not one of them....FIRE! Yes, last night the Crown fire got a little too close for comfort. Areas around us were under mandatory evacuation, so we just "prepared" ourselves (loaded the car) just in case. Thank goodness the most wonderful firefighters ever (they are so good out here), we didn't need to evacuate. Here are some pictures of how close it go to us; these pictures are from the front of our house. These are the foothills in front of our house. The houses across the road from us (Ave P), we evacuated last night.
The white stuff falling is not snow; it's ash! The area smells like campfires, including us! They blocked off our street to Ave P so that the emergency vehicles could use it. The good news; we are prepared! We felt very good about our preparation and the ease of putting it all in the van.

FREAKY! So glad you ar okay, I can't believe how close that is to you and how much ash is in the air!
I wasn't sure if you guys had to evacuate. It is so disgusting... we too smell like the fire. If you need anything, let us know.
